Volunteer: Friendly Visitor Volunteers Needed for Visiting Holocaust Survivors

Join us as a Friendly Visitor volunteer to make a difference in the life of a Holocaust Survivor.

Friendly Visitors meet one-on-one with a client survivor on a weekly basis in the client's home. Provide companionship, engage in conversation and lend a listening ear. Activities could include board/card games, listening to music, or simply having an engaging conversation and lending a listening ear. You'll have the opportunity to develop a personal connection and contribute to the well-being and quality of life for a member of this special community.

We are urgently seeking bilingual Russian/English speaking volunteers for our Friendly Visiting Program for Russian speaking Holocaust survivors living in Brooklyn and Queens.

Are you looking for a meaningful way to connect to support a Holocaust survivor in our community from the comfort of your home? Consider volunteering as a Telephone Reassurance Volunteer!

As a Volunteer you would provide weekly reassurance calls to Holocaust survivors who are socially isolated; offering companionship, emotional support, and a listening ear. Many of these individuals face isolation and need a friendly voice to brighten their day.

Must be of a compassionate and empathetic nature, possess good communication skills. Ability to commit to making regular weekly  phone calls.  Previous experience working with the elderly population a plus, but not required.
